During the first half of June, 1915, the 16th London battalion of 18 Brigade, 6th Division were holding the line along the Yser canal at Ypres where there was always constant shelling to contend with. This was specially bad for the battalion when they were in support trenches on 4th June when they suffered nearly twenty casualties. Edward Wilson died from wounds on 17th June.after having been sent back to a base hospital on the coast. |
